Up to 75% bonus when buying United MileagePlus miles and how to book Thai Airways first class to Sydney for only 3,978 AED (1,084 USD)

Thai Airways First Class Bangkok to Sydney

A few days ago United Airlines launched its latest sale of its MileagePlus miles with up to 75% bonus when you purchase between 30,000 and 75,000 miles. Lately United has been selling its MileagePlus miles aggressively, and its latest promotion where you could buy miles with up to 100% finished not long ago.

Should I buy miles?

United MileagePlus is not the most attractive currency if you aim to redeem miles for flights to and from the Middle East. In fact, other Star Alliance carriers’ programs such as Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles along with Singapore Airlines’ Krisflyer offer far more attractive redemption rates compared to United MileagePlus. However, United MileagePlus does have some attractive sweet spots where you can get exceptional value from the miles purchased.

Thai Airways first class between Asia and Australia for only 40,000 miles

The ultimate sweet spot on the United Mileage award chart is definitely the option to redeem MileagePlus miles to fly first class between South Asia and Australia for only 40,000 miles. This way you can fly from Hong Kong to Bangkok in Thai Airways first class on one of its Boeing 747, visit the amazing Thai Airways first class lounge in Bangkok where you will be driven in a golf buggy between the gate and the lounge and take advantage of the free spa treatments and massage while waiting for your connecting flight to Sydney, this flight will also be in first class on a Boeing 747.
All this can be booked for only 40,000 United Mileage miles and 68 USD in taxes and fees. During this promotion, the required miles can be purchased for only 1,015.88 USD so you can effectively book all this for only 3,978 AED (1,084 USD).

When to book?

The promotion ends on 29 September 2017, so you still have a few days to decide, and it is worth keeping in mind that United will devaluate its award rates as of 1 November 2017. From this point, this particular flight will increase from 40,000 miles to 65,000 miles.
This will most likely be one of the last promotions where it will be possible to purchase miles and redeem them at the current rate. This offer could potentially be combined with one of the amazing business class fares currently available between the Middle East and Asia.
